I moved the website to a new host, which I think will be more tolerant of the content this website hosts. Nevertheless, I do want to take a moment to remind everyone that the stories and content posted here MUST follow website rules, as it it not only my policy, but it is the policy of the hosts that permit our website to run on their servers. We WILL continue to enforce the rules, especially critical rules that, if broken, put this sites livelihood in jeapordy.

For about two weeks after Gina got soaked all was quiet on the Gina-Steffi Front.

When they encountered each other they were coldly polite to each other. Once Steffi actually made an friendly overture but was rebuffed. I guessed Gina's reasoning right away : You've gotten one up on me and of course you want to call it quits-no way, Jose.

I knew that poor Steffi could not avoid Gina's vengeance.

The first time we had maneuvers I did some manipulating to see that Gina and Steffi were on the same side. The danger would come when Steffi was a prisoner of the side Gina was on. All the players (except me) would automatically let Gina take charge of the prisoner for the entertainment value of seeing what Gina would do to retaliate. They didn't realize how serious Gina's dislike of Steffi was.

On the second maneuver, the inevitable happened. I was a little late while I finished some home work (Mom was insistent on that; one of the few things she was really strict on). When I got their sides were chosen and Steffi and Gina were on opposite sides. I had been taken to be on the same side as Steffi. While in the clearing in the semi wild park where we held our games , Gina, whenever she saw Steffi, gave a evil grin that Jack Nicholson would kill for. I suspect that the other kids deliberately set the choosing of the sides up so that they could enjoy whatever Gina had planned for Steffi.

At any time Steffi could have just walked away. But she had pride and did want to be seen as a coward. And, she told Gina and me a couple of years later when this had become something for friends to laugh about, she felt revenge was inevitable and it might be better just to get it over with. So off to war-in more ways then one .

I will never be able to prove it, but I suspect my soldiers wanted us to lose so we could get on to the main event--the punishment of Steffi. All I know is that I thought of my side this day years later when I watched the Iraqi army collapse in the 1991 Gulf war. My guys could have given lessons to Saddam's troops in how to loose a battle quickly. It ended with everyone on my side dead except me and Steffi, and we were surrounded by Gina's side. My friend Sean was the commander but he deferred to Gina, he wanted to see what unpleasentness Gina had in mind for Steffi as much as anybody.

Gina took one look at her prisoners and gave another Nicholson like grin. "So the worm has turned, Steffi". Gina said as she pulled out a piece of rope from a backpack and pulled Steffi's wrists behind her and proceeded to bind them.

Steffi tried to look stoic. When Gina had finished she reached into the backpack and pulled out a long scarf with a knot tied in the middle: "We ran out of tape but this will do fine as a gag", Gina said as she cleaved gagged Steffi with it.

Gina then repeated the process with me I noticed that the knots were placed where my fingers could not reach-which had been Gina's mistake in the Houdini challenge--and no doubt she considered this revenge for my binding and gagging her then.
Gina said "Follow Me" and we went into a side trail. (Our battles were held in the more remote areas of the park, away from the main jogging-bike trails. ) I guess there were about ten of us altogether. Before we left the clearing of our capture, Gina turned to Chris my kid sister, gave her a key , and whispered to her. Chris then took off toward civilization and I suspected Gina house where Chris would pick up something-no doubt with Steffi in mind. Steffi did not miss this. She was still trying to act as though this was just a routine prisoner taking. (Steffi had become a good sport about being a tied up prisoner).

Gina marched us about three minutes and came into a clearing I remembered showing her. It had a shallow pond-only about three feet deep -and even that was drying up, Most of the pond area was now a mud flat.

Steffi and I were seated and our ankles tied together. Finally we were turned back to back and Gina tied our bodies together. This looks great but usually it's a stupid way to tie people up-very easy to work at each others bound hands. But this time it was obvious with Gina watching we were not going to escape even if we could free our hands. After about fifteen minutes-Gina had taken out a Science Fiction Paperback and was reading it-Chris arrived back with something wrapped in a blanket. Gina looked up and grinned.

"Payback time, Steffi", she said. She untied us from each other, stood Steffi up against a tree, and then tied Steffi to a tree by a rope wound around her chest several times. She then turned to me "Don't worry, we're even. This isn't meant for you", Gina said as she unwrapped the blanket.

She took out a paint roller. One of the four foot ones used for reaching ceilings. Gina's parents were repainting the house. She then took it over to the mud flat, dipped the roller in it until it was soaking with mud and headed toward Steffi who begun to mmpphh.

Gina then said. "You should thank me . Rich women pay big bucks to be soaked in mud at health spas" Gina then began to roll the roller up and down Steffi legs and trunks, leaving a nice neat coat of mud. Gins then went back to the flats resoaked the roller and proceeded to coat Steffi's T shirt with mud. Lucky for Steffi she was wearing a dark blue T shirt that day. Gina worked calmly and evenly, getting a good coat on Steffi. When she had finished I begun to worry: what if Gina decided to move up to Steffi's face? That would be well beyond the rules of the game. Gina was already pushing them to the limits. Steffi, aside from some gagged squealing had been taking her punishment with commendable calm. But now she closed her eyes, preparing for the worst: A coat of mud on her face.

But that did not happen. Instead Gina put one of her fingers on he roller, got it muddy and then very lightly touched the end of Steffi's nose. They was a very small spot of mud on the tip of her nose. Then Gina put down the roller and said "I told you we Sicilians had a thing about revenge". Gina forgot she was only one fourth Sicilian in the excitement of the moment. She then ungagged Steffi, and used the scarf to dry off the mud spot on Steffi's nose.

"Untie them" Gina said. "No Hard Feelings, Dudalb" she said. She pointedly did not say that to Steffi

She picked up the roller, rewrapped it, and then dropped an old towel that had been brought with the roller at Steffi"s feet. Gina then left.

We were untied and the group broke up a little in awe of Gina. Whatever face Gina had lost by being soaked had been restored by her retaliation.

Steffi was remarkably calm She did the best she could to get the mud off with the towel, gave up, turned to me and said "I had better get home and get these clothes into the washer". As she left she muttered something in German.-something she did not do very often. To this day I have not asked her what it was.

She walked off with a weird kind of dignity.

I tried to figure out what would happen next..It could go either way: a peace settlement or escalation. It was up to Steffi.
