(An Experiment)
Each post, other than this intro, will be exactly 200 words of narrative (British English rules) as adjudicated upon by my spell-checker. I’d like to know if it works. Comments welcome and might even make the next episodes appear more quickly.
OK. Here goes.
The plan had been carefully made and it was now time to put it into action. I was well hoodied-up so that even my nose was not exposed. For goodness’ sake, why did I have to do this sort of thing in the summer? Nevertheless, I rang the doorbell.
You’d think he would have known better, really, wouldn’t you? At not yet 12 years-old and less than 1.5 metres tall, he couldn’t even see out of the spy-hole in the door. Even so he opened the door.
“Hello, there’s nobody else here at the minute.” You might think that was not the best advised opening remark but he did continue by asking if he could help in any way. He was a dark, curly-haired, sturdy kid who was wearing only his black swimming costume. He was obviously on his way down to that luxurious indoor pool in the basement when I rang the doorbell. Yes, this place was very swish indeed, and I knew that not only were his parents away but so was his older brother. Things were going well.
“Hello, Gino, I’ve got a surprise for you.” Yes, as I said, plans had been very carefully made.
