Muscle Soreness in Tight Bondage

Post by copperfox »

I just finished about an hour long bondage session in which I was tightly stretched in a spread eagle position. Now, normally—I want my bondage to be extremely comfortable and relaxing. Tonight, I decided to go a bit further and see how much my body could really handle. It wasn’t extremely tight (as in I didn’t have any issues with circulation or hands/feet tingling), but I’m definitely much more sore than I’ve been before.

About half an hour into the spread eagle, I really began to feel the soreness in my arms and inner legs. After an hour, though I was absolutely glad to be released, I think I could have stayed tied up a while longer if I had to, which leads me to my questions. Have you ever been fairly sore while in bondage (due to the position you’re in)? Do you like it that way? Do you try to push through the aching and try to relax anyway? What do you do, and how do you feel once you’re able to take your mind off the soreness? I’m not concerned from a safety perspective (if anything is wrong, I’ll be let out), but it seems really exciting to see what’s on the “other side” of the pain (if that makes sense).

I’ve done similar things in the past (that I think I’ve mentioned here) that involve struggling to fatigue in a hogtie position. When that happens, I’m sore and my muscles are aching, but I absolutely enjoy the intense relaxation that comes afterwords (it’s almost like an out-of-body kinda feeling). In a spread eagle, it’s quite different in that there’s no “let up” when being stretched out.

I have on one occasion fallen asleep while cuffed behind my back (was absolutely exhausted that day, usually I can't manage it.)
Woke up quite sore in my shoulders and luckily didn't have to go anywhere the next day because my wrists might have raised eyebrows.

So I don't have the memory of the process, as it were, but it was an interesting feeling to stretch out again when I let myself out.

To 'see what's on the "other side" of the pain' totally makes sense to me. It is what I enjoy about tight bondage. While I love being tied-up comfortably for extended periods, I am also a masochist. I feel here a need to explain that as a masochist, I don't tolerate nor enjoy any pain; in fact I hate and avoid pain and discomfort as much as possible. It's just very ultra-specific pains and discomforts in very limited contexts that I enjoy.

Being in tight bondage that induces some pain and discomfort as in muscle soreness is one of those very limited contexts. I love to have my arms tied above my head to a bed's headboard, like in a spreadeagled position, or in an elongated "mummy" capital-"I" shaped position. However, any position for me where my forearms and wrists are above shoulder position, whether tied to a bed, chair, or standing, will cause soreness and stiffness to set into my shoulders after 30 minutes or so.

So what I do to get to the "other side" is I start to do micro movements, twists, and contractions, as much as my bonds allow, to ease the pain. I also think of my wife/mistress/captor, and how I would do anything for HER, endure any discomfort and pain for HER. That helps extend the time a bit beyond the point where I usually safeword out.

What's on the other side? 1) Personal satisfaction that I've lasted in the uncomfortable position longer than my usual 30 to 45 minutes; 2) On rare occasions, a deep dive into subspace and once released and the soreness returning, fond memories of the moment.

It is on those rare occasions where I also get a deep sense of connection to myself as well as a profound admiration for, and sense of connection to, my wife who caringly indulges my kinks. And while the muscles may be sore for a couple days after, I have a sense of serene calmness about me making the soreness not only bearable, but worth it.

However, I need to emphasize that my wife and I are always careful and she knows my limits (as well as her own limits to what she is willing to see me endure). So concern for safety, while not explicit, is always present. The goal, after all, is to be able to reproduce the much sought after subspace in any number of future tie-up/bondage sessions, even if it slips away and cannot be attained in the session at hand. So most of the time, 9 times out 10, I'm more likely to not ride it through to the "other side", I just be repositioned into a more comfortable bondage position.

I’ve often wondered what falling asleep with my hands cuffed behind my back would be like! What was your first reaction when you woke up, @shyguy92? I’d really like to have that experience one day. As relaxing as hands-behind-back positions (like hogties) are for me, I can’t imagine falling asleep in one…though I’m all for trying!

Thanks for the detailed reply, @tiedinbluetights! One of my driving factors in doing bondage is also having a “deep sense of connection to myself”. It’s such a weirdly personal, intimate concept. And so hard to describe. But of course, to those who get it…no description is necessary!

I’m not a masochist by any stretch (haha….see what I did there) of the imagination, but absolutely love the soreness I get when in tight bondage. It’s funny (and I think most of us can relate), but immediately after orgasm, I can all of a sudden feel every one of my muscles and joints screaming in pain, and I beg to be untied.

As just a follow-up, I had another session last night. Same spread eagle position, but repositioned my cuffs to give me another half-inch or so on all my cuffs. It was still a tight stretch, but I was able to be tied up for just over two hours. Incredibly sore today—and loving it! Again, that’s a tangible reminder of my “fond memories”, and those experiences yet to come. :D

First thought was "holy crap I must have been tired, this never happens!" followed shortly by "man my arms and shoulders are sore"

Though not my wrists, oddly, until the cuffs came off. Then they did sting for a bit.

Kinda had this floaty feeling in my arms for the next ~1/2 hour. Was mildly worried about nerve damage at first (though I always make sure to double lock!), but everything came back fine.

Totally this for me as well, but with the slight modification that while I beg to be untied, I also beg not to be untied, and want to ride the discomfort and pain through to the other side. Most of the time I can't and so I am indeed untied. But on those rare occasions where I do manage to ride it through, a serene sense of easing back into the bondage returns, allowing me that deep sense of self-connection.

And, as a side note, as a male it is totally possible to orgasam multiple times within a few minutes, but the only time that has ever happened to me was while being tied-up and gagged with my wife continuing her "ministrations" post-orgasm.
