The dad had screwed his business partner over in a big deal.
Not too happy about this he ends up kidnapping the son until he gets what he wants.
Maybe he’s picked up from football practise and instead of going home he’s taken to the remote hideaway where he is tied and gagged. His captor apologetic but firm,
