wondering about Linda and how the lead heroine is going to get out of this peril.
Once I have completed the update for All in the family, I will work on this story again.
All I can say is that our prisoners will have to suffer some more...
I guessed as much slackywacky , the suffering part Alicia and Kayleigh had their share of suffering already. I guess it will be Lindas task to keep things together. She is a strong woman, but even for her it must be difficult to pull herself togehter and to keep up hope. She knows that Robert and her Friends will do everything to safe her, but so much they have not very much to go on. But but I have high hopes in Lindas resilience, and I hope she has not to suffer too long. I love happy ends
Chapter 136 - Settling down
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What do we know?†Jim said, sitting at the table at the cabin.
Jim, Robert, Matthew, Steve, and Diana were still sitting at the dining table in the cabin after Jonathan had suddenly ran off.
“We suspect they, whoever they are, have Linda, Kyleigh and Alicia. We have no idea where they are, although it would not be far fetched to think that they will all be brought to the same location.†Diana said.
“I agree. Except we have no idea where that would be. The last time Linda and Alicia were kidnapped, the truck transporting them crashed on a road leaving town, heading west, but that does not give us much of a clue.†Robert added. “We know one of them, the one who spoke, is a cop and had access to the jail. I have put some feelers out a few days ago, just waiting for results.â€
“That is probably our best clue. We have no idea why the girls were kidnapped but seeing how Alicia and Linda were placed in wooden crates last time, we can assume they were being transported somewhere.†Jim gave his thoughts.
At that moment they got interrupted as two cars approached the cabin.
“Expecting anybody?†Jim asked no one in particular.
“No.†Robert replied, “But I would not be surprised if it is Wendy and the Sherriff.â€
Diana and walked to the door and went outside to greet whoever was coming. It was indeed Wendy in her truck, followed by the Sherriff. They were brought into the cabin.
“Any news?†Robert asked.
“We have a CSI team coming in, but I have no real hope they will find anything.†Joan provided some info. “We’re also watching any security cameras, but there are not many around. We will get more when the stores open, some of their camera’s might have picked something up, but again I don’t have any high hopes. It looks like they knew what they were doing and with Wendy’s house being on the edge of town, we might not get lucky.â€
“They must have left some trail behind, if not this time, maybe during the last time they kidnapped Linda.†Robert said.
“I agree, but I do not have access to that information yet, as it was outside of my jurisdiction. But we’re connecting with all police forces involved.†Joan said.
“But we suspect that at least 1 cop is involved.†Diana stated. “Should we not keep this under wraps?â€
“No, if he knows things, he is aware that three people were kidnapped. It would look suspicious if we would not be contacting the other forces. We just have to be careful what we share, or whoever is the dirty cop might go underground.†Joan replied to Diana’s question.
“I agree.†Wendy said. “We do everything which we normally would do, but in the meantime, we have a second inquiry going to find the cop.â€
“Okay. Anything we can do?†Jim asked.
“Not really. Make sure I can reach you. I have no objections if you move back to town.†Joan said, before she said her goodbyes and left.
Wendy stayed behind, as her house was off limits until CSI was done with it. She parked her car next to the entrance and walked back to the cabin when Sandra and Jonathan came around the studio building.
“Any news?†Sandra asked.
Wendy had to smile, as she could see rope marks on Sandra’s wrists and ankles. Sandra noticed that the park ranger had spotted the marks.
“He left me spreadeagled in the unused building.†She said to Wendy.
“I completely forgot about her when the news about Linda and Robert reached us.†Jonathan apologized, again, as he had done several times to Sandra.
“There is no news and nothing you can do at this time. Maybe get to bed and get some sleep?â€
Jonathan nodded, as did Sandra.
“Come on, I’ll take you top the guesthouse.†Jonathan said, guiding Sandra.
Wendy grinned and wondered in which bed they would end up. Not that it mattered to her, there was nothing people could do, they needed more information first, so a distraction from the kidnapping was probably the best thing for now.
“Jonathan and Sandra headed to bed.†She said to the others when she came back in the cabin. “I suggest we all try to get some sleep. We’ll know more later today.â€
“I don’t think I can sleep.†Robert said.
Diana nodded.
“Just try. We are doing everything we can and maybe a rest will help you remember things you saw or heard but forgot because you are tired. Go rest.â€
“I can’t relax.†Diana said again. “All I do is think of Linda and the others.â€
“Come on.†Jim said to his wife. “I have some ropes upstairs waiting for you.â€
The statement made Wendy grin. She knew all too well how relaxing bondage could be when stressed. Robert got up and walked over to the drink cabinet and poured himself a stiff drink.
“Anybody else a night cap?†He asked.
Matthew and Steve both agreed, and he poured them a glass each.
“I’ll see you guys later.†Wendy said, heading to her room.
“Good night.â€
After finishing the drinks, they all went to their rooms, and in Matthew’s case the RV, and tried to sleep.
* * * * *
Miles away somebody was waking up. She was thirsty and had a headache. When the fog in her mind finally cleared, she could recognize she was in the back of a car. Her hands handcuffed behind her back, multiple tie-raps keeping her ankles restrained. She was a little surprised she was not gagged, or maybe that was because she had been knocked out by something. It was quiet in the car, no radio, no voices. She could hear the rustle of clothes as the car moved sideways, so she knew others were in the car. But she had no idea where she was. She could have been out for 10 minutes or for several hours. She groaned, as the headache was pounding in her head.
“Lie still and you will not be harmed, much.†A voice said.
It was a voice she had heard before, the monotone voice of the man that had kidnapped her before. She could not determine if he were the driver or not. She tried the handcuffs, but they were locked on tight enough that she could not get her wrists out. The cable ties around her ankles were tight and because they had used multiple, she was not going to break free from those.
“What do you want from me?†She finally asked.
There was no answer. She did not try again, she remembered last time she had not listened, and she had been punished by getting smacked in the face, hard. Linda figured it was better to wait and see what was going to happen. She was worried, worried about Robert as she had no idea what had happened to him, worried about Alicia and Kyleigh, worried about what would happen to her, but she knew there was not much else to do than settle down and wait.

Excellent chapter, moving things right along. Linda is cool, she will keep her head and if there is a chance to improve her situation, she will take it. Otherwise she will be calm and wait.
On the plus side: Linda is unharmed and keeps her head down for the time being and bides her time.
On the not so bright side: The good guys have no clue where to look for our three prisoners So mixed blessings. Did I mention that waiting is the worst?
The hunt is on. I am curiously which mistakes the kidnappers will make this time. A third car crash in a story with a kidnapped damsel on board is a little too predictable.

I gave the matter some thought: So far the kidnappers made no mistakes, and the good guys have no clue were to look.
As things stand? Either the kidnappers make a mistake now, or this second inquiry Joan spoke of prodcuces something and quickly because I have the feeling that time is of the essence her:
Why was Linda kidnapped in the first place? Looks to me like human trafficking, and then time is running out for our prisoners.

“Why us?†Kyleigh asked for the fiftieth time, dried tears on her face.
The young woman was sitting against the wall of the concrete space they were now held in. Alicia was sitting next to her, giving mental support to her roommate. They were in a room that was 12 feet deep, 9 feet wide and 8 feet high. The floor, walls and ceiling were all made of concrete. The only opening a heavy steel door in one of the short walls. When they finally had gotten to their destination and the truck had stopped, 2 masked men had taken Alicia out of her cage, pulled a black hood over her head and walked her through long hallways to the room. There had been some traffic noise, so she figured they were at least in a populated area, but the hood had prevented her from seeing. Once they were in the room, the hood had been removed and the 2 men had left, locking the door behind them.
“I don’t know, Kyleigh. I don’t know.â€
It had taken a while before Kyleigh had been brought into the same room, a sigh of relieve escaped Alicia’s mouth when she saw the other women. At least they were not split up, so they were able to support each other.
“We’ll get through this.†Alicia said to her fellow prisoner.
They were still handcuffed, but there were no other restraints. The room was bare, except for a light in the middle of the ceiling and 2 cameras’, each located in opposite corners, so they covered the whole room. There was no toilet or sink, no beds, or materials to sit on, it was just an empty room. The bottom part of the door had slid open, just big enough to push a tray through with food, after a few hours. The food had not been particularly good, some green paste, but the girls were hungry, so they ate. Two water bottles were also on the tray. No cutlery, so they used their cuffed hands. No napkins, so they licked their fingers clean. Not that they were clean anyway, as they had not been able to clean themselves for a while now.
“Step away from the door.†A voice sounded through a speaker.
It was obvious to the girls they were being watched, as they had been eating where the tray was placed. After they moved to the far wall, the door opened, and the tray was removed by a masked man. He threw a bucket into the room, before closing the door again. The bucket was empty, the handle removed.
“Well, I suspect that is our toilet.†Alicia said. “Glad I do not have to go yet.â€
It was at least better than the cages, where they had not even been able to go on a bucket. Not that there was much that required them to go, as they had been fed truly little, barely enough to keep them alive. Alicia leaned against Kyleigh, both women holding hands, as best as they could with the handcuffs on their wrists.
“I’ve got no idea what they want from us, but at least we’re still alive. And if that is the case, there is hope. Don’t give up Kyleigh.â€
“Thank you, Alicia. You are a great support.â€
They had no idea of time, the light never turned off, it reminded both women of the experiment that Alicia had performed where she had locked up Kyleigh. The difference being that Kyleigh knew she was safe, even when she was restrained and left in a room. Now they had no idea what was going to happen.
“Hello, let us out of here.†Alicia screamed, but it was of no use.
Hours went by, the process with the food repeated itself, the same green paste. It did not even taste after something. The order had come to get away from the door and the tray was removed. No bucket that second time. Having the bucket in the room did not help with the smell, but both Alicia and Kyleigh knew that there was nothing they could do about it, so they tried to ignore it. They had nothing to cover it up with. They napped, you could not really call it sleep, it was exhaustion taking over and their brains shutting down for a while, telling their bodies to rest. Suddenly they were woken up by the door opening.
“Linda?†Alicia called out.
It was Linda, handcuffed hands behind her back, the same hood covering her head. The two masked men that brought her to the room removed the hood and pushed her into the room.
“Kyleigh, Alicia, thank god.†Linda said after seeing both women.
Alicia and Kyleigh got up and ran over to Linda.
“Hold on.†Linda said, moving her cuffed hands over her butt and moving her feet so that the cuffs were in front.
Everybody hugged.
“Do you know why we are here?†Linda asked.
“No.†Kyleigh answered, relaying their experience from the last few days.
“What happened to you?†Alicia asked and Linda told her story.
“So, you did get married? Congratulations.â€
“Yeah, really helping us here, with this.†Linda grinned.
She had been glad to see the other women, at least they were still alive. And it looked like the feeling was mutual, as for the first time in a while, everybody had a smile on her face. Alicia told Linda about the experience being locked up in the room.
“All we’ve seen is the masked men when they take the tray away.†She said to Linda.
“And I assume the bucket is what I think it is?†Linda asked, seeing, and smelling, the bucket.
Kyleigh nodded. The three women sat down against the wall. Linda told them about her wedding, just to distract them all.
“We’re sorry we missed it.†Alicia said.
“You should have seen the bridesmaids, I had seven of them, although most of them were pretty stationary, being tied to the poles. Oh, and my dress, I could only make small steps, Brianna had if turned into a hobble dress.â€
“I assume you have video and photos?â€
“Yes, Jonathan, the videographer from CBS captured it all. Once we get out of here, I’ll show it to you.â€
“When…†Kyleigh sighed.
They all sat quietly for a while, just contemplating their ordeal. At least with Linda around, both Alicia and Kyleigh felt better. Linda knew she was just as clueless as to why they had been kidnapped as the others but being a little older than the others gave Alicia and Kyleigh somebody to look up to and Linda knew she was going to try to be that role model, even if it was a hard thing to do.
“The boys will be looking for us.†Linda said, something she knew was true, even if they had no clue as to where they were.
The car ride in the rear of the car had not given her any clues. It had lasted for several hours, and she figured they had been travelling towards town, as she could hear more traffic noises, even at some point she had heard an ambulance, but that still did not help her. When they finally got to their destination, she had been hooded and guided into a building. Before entering the building, she had heard traffic, the same thing Alicia had heard, so she also figured they were in or at least close to a city. From the cabin, there were very few options within the time travelled, which made her believe they were back in town. She did not tell the others, it would not help them now and she might give away if the masked men were listening in, that she had figured out things that they were trying to hide.
“They will come and recue us.†Linda said to the others. “I am sure of it.â€

I have mixed feelings I have to admit slackywacky
Positive is the Girls are Ok and Linda is projecting strength, keeping up hope. Her resilience is marvellous.
But there is no end of their ordeal in sight. Not the slightest sliver of hope for rescue. This is so hard to read. The good Guys are not an inch nearer rescuing the girls ...
Another great update of a fantastic story though the situation seems pretty hopeless. I can barely imaging how hard this must be for Linda.
Linda is a fantastic heroine. No, there is no obvious solution for them at the moment. But anything can happen and change the entire complexion of the scenario. I will not give up faith yet.

Me too GreyLord But what I meant by mixed feelings is this:
The rational part of my Brain says: Wow, this is just amazing and so well done. The suspense, the thrill, four chapters now and not very much has happened; this is an art.
My emotional brain says: Will there ever be some light, just a small hint that there is light at the end of the tunnel? And so far there is absolute none, nada, zilch, zero.

Chapter 138 - Some news
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The convoy stopped at the first gas station they came to after leaving the cabin, before heading onto the highway. Three cars and one RV had made their way from the cabin towards town. Jim was driving Robert’s Jeep grand Cherokee, with Robert in the passenger seat and Diana in the back seat. Following them was Steve in the rental they had used to get around, with Sharon and Sandra as his passengers. Mike, Sheila and Wynona followed them in Mike’s car and Brianna in the RV completed the convoy.
“Let’s fill up, as we’re almost out.†Jim said, stopping next to one of the gas pumps.
Most of the guests had left, all asking to keep them informed on the progress. Linda’s brother was staying at the cabin, as was Wendy, since her house was still off-limits. Jonathan had another project that he needed to attend, and he was leaving later in the day with Daphne. All their plans for some fun bondage sessions had been interrupted by Linda’s kidnapping. Jonathan and Sandra had made some plans to meet up again, while Daphne had a talk with Brianna. It looked like she had some plans on visiting France soon. Jim got out of the car.
“Do we know when…†Diana stopped talking as Robert’s phone rang.
While Jim filled up the car, Robert answered the call through the car’s Bluetooth system.
“This is Robert.â€
“Hi Robert, this is Inspector Gillian Weatherbridge. I oversee the investigation that is looking at Linda’s, Alicia’s, and Kyleigh’s kidnapping. Can we talk for a few minutes, I wanted to update you on our findings? I am working with Sherriff McKinley.â€
“Sure.â€
Robert looked back at Diana.
“We followed up on the information you provided with regards to the police officer Linda heard while she was in the holding cell. We have identified him as Sergeant Jeff Blazon, and we found that he has not shown up for duty today. When we looked at other no shows, we found two more officers that did not show up for their shift and they work regularly with the sergeant. We are digging deeper into his life. It seems that Sergeant Blazon has some properties, storage units mostly, and we are tracing the addresses. It might not lead to anything, but I will keep you up to date.â€
“Thank you.â€
“The CSI team came up empty handed with regards to prints, but the analysis of the air in the room showed trace particles of the drug that was used to knock you out. It is fairly new and the only supply in the county is with the local PD here, which links us again back to Sergeant Blazon, as one of the other officers that we flagged checked out some of the stock.â€
“So, even though there is no physical evidence, it can be linked back to this Blazon guy?†Robert asked.
“Yes. No fingerprints or any real evidence, but it adds up. We also looked again into the first time Linda was kidnapped and the truck she and Alicia were transported in that crashed. The truck can be traced back to a garage. As we did not know what to look for at the time, we never looked at a possible connection between the garage and Sergeant Blazon, but when we investigated possible links this time around, we found that the garage used to be owned by Blazon. It was sold a year ago. We suspect that the garage owner is the fourth person we’re looking for. We’re tracing GPS data to see if we can connect them, but that might be a dead end, as there is lots of time the GPS is turned off.â€
“More evidence.†Robert said, looking at Diana.
“Yes. And there is more. We looked at the cases the three suspected officers were involved in, and several of their cases were kidnappings. Almost all of them, 8 kidnappings in 4 years, were never resolved, but the cases were closed. These cases never got flagged because the women involved were all single with no relatives in the area and disappeared without a trace. No bodies were ever found.â€
“You suspect these guys were involved in a trafficking scheme?â€
“It looks that way. All cases known to us are being re-opened. When we have a list of properties, we will visit them and see if we can find evidence. We will also visit the garage again. We’re working with the DA and the court to get warrants to inspect all the properties.â€
“Thank you.†Robert said.
“I know it is not the news you are waiting for, unfortunately we have not found them yet, but we are working on all fronts to collect evidence and trace the whereabouts of the suspects.â€
“I understand. Thank you for updating me.â€
Gillian audibly sighed, before speaking again.
“I know this is not easy for you and I can’t make any promises, other than that I will keep you informed. But if there is anything that you remember that could be useful, please let me know.â€
She gave Robert her phone number and disconnected the call. Jim had been waiting outside, as to not to interrupt the call. Once he heard the call had ended, he got back into the car.
“Good news?†he asked.
“Not bad news.†Robert replied. “Let’s head over to the parking and I will update the others.â€
Jim moved the car to the rear parking lot at the gas station with the others following them and Robert got out and walked over to Steve’s car. He quickly gave a recap of the call.
“They are making progress.†Sharon said.
“Yes. We’ll continue to the studio as planned unless something else comes up. Okay?†Robert told them, before walking to Mike’s car.
He gave them the same recap and instructions.
“Some decent news, at least they have a lead.†Sheila said to Robert.
He nodded before he walked over to Brianna’s RV. She opened the side door and stepped down onto the pavement. Even dressed in jeans and a white blouse, her red hair hanging loose around her face, she oozed power, Robert thought when he looked at her.
“Are you okay?†Brianna asked.
Robert nodded.
“I’ll live. I had a phone call from the PD in town with an update on their investigation. They are making progress, have a few suspects. Nothing tangible yet.â€
“I will tell Tammy and Sammy when I let them out of their bondage later.†She said, a smile on her face.
“Oh, you have them tied up again? Why am I not surprised?†Robert grinned.
“Have a look.†She said, stepping aside.
Robert looked in the RV and saw the two girls sitting in the middle of the floor. Both girls were facing each other, dressed in French maid costumes. They were sitting on the floor, their legs around the other person and the same with their arms, embracing the other prisoner. Lots of rope circled their wrists and ankles, making it impossible to move away from each other. Both were hooded with leather hoods.
“Yes, there are gags underneath and they are also earplugged.â€
“Interesting way to travel.†Robert grinned, although it brought his mind back to Linda and the other kidnapped girls.
Brianna could see his face change.
“They will find them. I am sure of it.†She said to Robert.
“I know. I just hate waiting.†He replied.
Brianna stepped closer and hugged Robert. She held him for a few moments, before letting go. She could see tears in his eyes.
“We know you are trying to keep up appearances that everything is alright, but there is nothing wrong with having a good cry. Okay?†The French woman said to him.
He laughed; she was so good at reading people. He was pretending to do better than he was, but not many people would have noticed that.
“Thanks, Brianna, I needed that.†He said to her.
“Now let’s get back on the road again, shall we? The sooner we get to town the better.â€
Robert nodded and turned around and walked back to his own car.
“Let’s go.†He said when he settled in the passenger seat. “We still have a while to go.â€

The strongest Part of this excellent Chapter: Brianna caring for Robert.
Thank good there is some silver lining at the Horizon. The Villains are identified at last - now time is of the essence - this human trafficking. Keep it togehter Linda, for a little while! (I hope !)
Another great chapter to build the suspense. I understand Robert is not very happy, but with such a lead, many great things are bound to happen. At least, the suspects will never be able to return to work ever again. Now I can only hope the lead is correct.
As Caesar73 mentioned, there is some silver lining at the horizon. slackywacky, as Beaumains said, another great chapter to build the suspense. You have entertained me richly since I found this site. Thank you.
Chapter 139 - Crated again
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I don’t care if they are not ready for us, we have to leave. My sources told me they checked on my properties and I suspect they will be here soon.â€
The women in the room overheard the last bit of what sounded like a heated discussion happening outside of the door. The same door that flung open moments later and three men walked in, dressed in black, with masks covering their faces. They grabbed Alicia and dragged the kicking and screaming women out of the room before the others had a chance to react. With a slam the heavy door closed behind the men.
“What’s happening?†Kyleigh asked.
“Not sure.†Linda replied. “It sounded like we are being moved.â€
Linda hoped that what she had heard from the conversation was what she hoped it would be, that the police had at least some idea where they might be held. The sound of Alicia screaming suddenly stopped and Linda was hoping it was because she got gagged, not because they killed her.
“Moved where?†Kyleigh asked, moving close to Linda.
“No idea. Last time they got us, we were boxed in wooden crates, so I suspect we are being shipped somewhere. But I have no clue as to where that will be.
“I am scared.†Kyleigh stated.
Lifting her arms, Linda moved her cuffed hands around the young woman.
“If they wanted to kill us, they would already have done so. I suspect they are part of a trafficking ring.â€
Tears rolled down Kyleigh’s cheeks as she softly cried.
“I will do my best to protect you.†Linda said to the crying woman.
She new there was very little she could do, but she figured the statement might help. With a bang that scared both women, the door was opened again and the three men they had seen before came in and grabbed Linda. Kyleigh started to cry louder and screamed at the men, but she was ignored. Linda was roughly carried outside of the room and the door slammed shut again.
“Move it, come on, they are on the way.†The monotone voice said to the three men.
Linda did not see where he was as she was carried face down. She got unceremonial dropped on the concrete floor, hurting her left knee.
“Auw.â€
“Shut up.†A voice said, before grabbing Linda roughly at her hair. A rag was stuffed in her mouth, filling her mouth almost completely, and wide electricity tape was tightly wound around her head. The tape covered the whole area from her chin to just below her nose.
“Hmmmpppfffff.â€
Linda tried to resist, but a hard slap in her face was the consequence of her actions. She figured that resisting was not the most useful thing to do if she did not want to get hurt more. The slap stung.
“Hold still.†One of the men said, stuffing earplugs in her ears.
When she tried to look up, a sleeping mask was placed over her eyes and more electricity tape was wrapped around her head, covering both the sleep mask and her ears. For good measure, as if that was needed Linda thought, they also ran tape from under her chin to the top of her head. The stretchy tape started to compress her head and it was not a very pleasant feeling. Obviously, the men were not done with the tape, as Linda’s hands were forced into a ball and taped up too, taking away the use of her fingers.
“Looks like I will be in for whatever is going on.†Linda thought.
“How long?†A male voice asked.
“About 15 minutes, so move it. I don’t care if it is neat, as long as she can’t get out.†The monotone voice answered. “This one has caused us enough trouble already.â€
Linda figured he was talking about her. Her arms were pulled behind her back, pushing her down on the floor, and her arms were taped with what felt like duct tape, all the way from her wrists to past her elbows, crushing her arms together.
“Thank god I am flexible.†Linda thought.
After her arms were taped, her torso was taped from her hips to almost her neck, squishing her breasts in the process. Breathing in, which was already not easy due to the big gag, became a little more difficult due to the tight tape. The men showed no mercy. They folded her legs frog style and used more tape to wrap them up, even making sure her toes were taped.
“I am not getting out of this any time soon.†Linda thought, as the men pushed her legs against her chest, pushing her into a ball tie.
More tape was wrapped around her, making it impossible for her to move around. She could move her head, but that was it. A hood was pulled over her head, something that felt like spandex. Tape was applied around her neck, at least not as tight as the rest of the tape, keeping the hood in place.
“Get her in the crate.â€
She was lifted and put down on what felt and smelt like wood. Somebody started to wrap rope around her, tying her down against the floor of the crate. There must have been hooks in the floor of the crate. Even her head was tied down, she could literally not move any part of her body. Something was put in the crate with her, it felt like filling, maybe peanuts, before the stuff was compressed, and she heard nails being hammered. Linda assumed the lid was put on the crate. Breathing had become even more difficult, and she really had to concentrate, which was probably a good thing, as it took her mind of the situation that she was in.
“Leave the third one, we’re out of time. Let’s go.†The man with the monotone voice said.
They placed the two crates they had in the box of the truck they had used before when transporting the cages with Alicia and Kyleigh. The three men got into the truck and started the engine. The vibration of the engine told Linda that she was in a vehicle. She had not seen the box truck, so all she knew was that she was being transported.
“Go, now. We’ll meet at the rendezvous point. They will just have to deal with these crates, even if they are not ready.â€
The truck moved out onto the industrial road. It was not busy, but there was enough traffic to blend in. Just as they passed the third traffic light, several police cars, including a SWAT team, went in the opposite direction towards the building they had just left.
“Suckers.†The driver grinned.
“The boss will be done by the time they get there; the place was rigged to burn.†The guy in the middle said.
They had pulled off their masks, driving with it might attract attention and attracting attention was the last thing they wanted.
“Shame we could not take the last one, she was cute. Think the boss will let her out before he blows the place?â€
“Dunno, don’t care.†The driver answered. “They’re all cute, but not for us. People have paid big bucks for them, no damaging the merchandise, at least not too much. And the third one was just a bonus anyway; we only took her because she was with the other one.â€
“The boss really had it in for this blond. He was not happy she escaped last time, she was worth a lot of money and the buyer was not too happy that she had gotten away.â€
“And he was not somebody you want to cross.†The driver added.
“Getting her on her wedding night was fun though, I bet nobody suspected that. It was bad enough they almost caught me when I was staking out the cabin in the mountains. Nice place.†The man on the right said.
“We’ll move to a new town and start again, not too difficult, we know how to do it now. Nobody ever suspects a police officer.â€
They all laughed.
“Crap, talking about coppers…†The driver said, looking in his side mirror.
Lights flashed on top of the cruiser as it stayed behind the truck.
“You think he knows something?†The man in the middle asked while the truck pulled over.
“We’ll find out. Behave. I just hope it is nobody we know, killing him would be a shame.†The driver said, putting his gun within easy reach, but out of view of the cop who stopped them.
He lowered the window and waited for the officer to come up to the cabin. It turned out to be a female officer the driver had never met, so he relaxed a little more, especially since she did not come up to the cabin of the truck with her gun drawn.
“Evening sir, are you aware your license plate light is not working?â€
“Sorry officer, no I did not. I think I have a spare bulb; can I replace it?â€
“Sure, just wanted you to know, that was all. Replace it as soon as you can, okay?â€
“Will do, thank you.â€
He rolled the window up when she walked back to her patrol car. The three men in the cabin relaxed.
“Whoever stops somebody for a broken license plate light? Geez.â€
“Women.â€
The men laughed and after the patrol car had turned around, they continued their trip, they still had several hours to go. The two women in the cargo part of the truck had no idea what was going on. All they knew was that they were so tightly tied, that all they could do was focus on getting enough air into their lungs and wait for things to happen.

Slackywacky, also @DeviantArt
My dear slackywacky you really are a master of tension. After the sliver of hope in the last part it is another bucket of icy cold water - and the future looks much darker again. I really wonder how this will end, if the Villains are getting away with there prey , how in heaven their friends, the police should find them then????? Just wondering ..... another great update! Whenever I read another update of Linda´s Trials and Tribulations - the Song "Killing me softly" and slowlysprings to mind You are a hard task master slackywacky !

slackywacky, as Caesar73 said, you really are a master of tension. I would hate to see someone treated like Linda and her friends, but your writing is so incredibly descriptive that I can picture it clearly. Yes, you remain so very entertaining.
Love all your stories!
Just spent a good few hours catching up with them. The recent dark tone shift is very suspenseful and masterfully done, I'm a sucker for good endings though. Hope everyone else gets out alright including the other potential kidnapping victims.
Keep up the good work
