Let’s talk about taping over hair, and I mean like hair on your head.

I’ve really started coming around to this. Like when I wrap tape around my head, it goes over my hair.

People I’ve met up with are like “oh doesn’t that hurt?” A little but it’s totally worth it for an air tight gag.

Like if I got kidnapped irl, kidnapper isn’t going to put a beanie on me, it’s just going around.

I do have some tips if you’re worried about it though.
1. Showers will help you get the tape off.
2. Olive oil in hair. Keeps the tape from sticking.
3. Use wide tape. It’s easy to pull tape from your hair, UNLESS you bunch up the tape or overlap.

Note how tight this is. It’s worth it. I’ve even considered going buzzcut just for the tightest gags possible. Jealous of bald guys for the first time!!

Some tapes are less of a problem than others to remove. 3M Microfoam is a very good tape to wrap around the head. You can use more than one type of tape to get very good results with minimal removal pain. T-Rex Ferociously Strong is the stickiest I've found that won't remove skin from the lips. You can use that over the mouth and under the chin, then wrap around with the Microfoam or another less sticky tape. Just about any tape will stick to itself or a different brand of tape very securely; it's sticking to the skin for a long time that not every tape can do.

Yeah my limits for putting tape in my hair is duct. I won’t put gorilla tape or T. rex tape in my hair.

I love the idea of securing the mouth with super sticky tape then something easier around the head.

I’m definitely a fellow fan of wrapping over the hair! Absolutely has the cons you mentioned (possible bunching up/discomfort when removing) but the pros of a tight squeezing tape gag outweigh them for me.

It is safest to use plastic wrap or a non-adhesive tape for a base layer, but then some of the aesthetic is lost if the tape doesn’t go directly on the skin and then starts to slide down after a few minutes of wearing.

I’ve used water to get tape untangled from my hair, but never tried the olive oil or hair product!

Another great tape for wrapping is bundling tape. The adhesive isn’t quite as strong as duct tape, so it doesn’t stick as great to hair and skin, but adheres to itself very very well and makes for a fantastic gag when you layer it on wide and tight.

Definitely can hurt but still looks good! I think microfoam tape is the best for over the hair

I don't think a real life kidnapper is doing...whatever it is going on in that video...either.

I've done it before but I'm okay with cutting corners with a hood or something similar rather than getting a duct tape waxing on the back of my head.

I just can’t imagine if I have someone break into my apartment and tapes my mouth they’re only going to slap on piece on, feel like they’d go all out but then again most kidnappers are dumb.

The bundling tape was amazing I’m mummifying my head in that stuff all the time from now on with a gorilla tape base.

I always say that "when there's a will, there's a way".

There are multiple ways to do it, including not doing anything and just enduring (or enjoying) whatever pain is inflicted.

However, Hollywood has taught most people that to remove tape you have to do it quickly (???). Which is almost never the case.

What I recommend is to always test the tape and your reactions (or the subject's) before any meaningful session.
Try a small strip on the cheek, the arms, then the lips and then the hair.

That way you can see and feel how your body reacts to the adhesive. Some people have allergic reactions, others can have dry skin, or the adhesive can be too corrosive for your skin or your lips or the adhesive can react to your hair or its tint negatively.

Then you start experimenting with the removal process.
Usually this is what produces most of the pain, since people just remove it without care and makes them afraid of tape.

When tape is over hair, what I do is grab the hair, then pull the tape, this reduces a lot the strain on the follicle (the root of the hair), thus, reducing the pain.

As a man that does tight, wraparound tape gags over his beard, I can tell you this works fantastically. In the case of small hair (like beard), as you remove the tape, you can just pull the tensed hair out of the tape manually.

Imagine that you're tensely grabbing the tape, stopped peeling it away and you'll see the hair being pulled between skin and tape. The painless method is to pull it from the tape towards the skin, but sometimes it won't be possible (due to hair length), so pulling it perpendicularly will be your last choice, but it'll still be way less painful than just pulling the tape without care.

Unless you can shower, I would advise against using oils. Or if you're ok enduring the oily skin and whatever has been wet by it, go on.

The other option is to use medical tape (Microfoam, micropore, etc) or do a layer in between, like vetwrap.
