Books with Bondage

Hi everyone!

I’m on the lookout for books that feature bondage, ideally with a solid plot and good character development. I’d love to find an audiobook read by a female narrator, but a traditional print book would work too!

I’m not just looking for explicit content like what you’d typically find in adult material—I’m after something with more depth and story. I enjoy themes like kidnapping, arrest scenarios, bondage wrestling, and playful bondage, and I’m really hoping to find books that dive into these elements in a thoughtful way.

For reference, I’m not interested in anything purely erotic or pornographic, but more engaging stories that feature those dynamics. I’ve searched around before, but I mostly end up finding content that’s a bit too shallow or just explicit.

So, if you’ve come across anything that fits the bill—whether it’s a novel, short story, or audiobook—I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

I haven't read it but I believe the main plot of The Star Rover by Jack London is about a man who gets put in a strait-jacket as a punishment in prison and then starts to hallucinate his past lives.

There is a book called Let’s Go Play at the Adams by Wendal Johnson. The plot is a college girl babysitting whilst parents are away gets tied up by her charges. Warning it is very brutal with a bad ending for the girl.

There was a discussion a year or so ago on books with bondage elements (as opposed to a book about bondage).

Maybe some ideas that fit your requirements mentioned there?

There’s always Gerard’s Game by Steven King, of a woman handcuffed to a bed for a couple of days wearing just knickers.

In Ready Player One, the protagonist is ballgagged when arrested to prevent him from giving verbal commands to his computer. Love that that's just standard protocol in that world

I read a fair bit of spy, detective, and crime fiction and it's fairly common for some to get tied up in those genres, but that's less playful bondage and more crime stuff, so I don't know if you're interested in knowing about those.

There is a part in Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone where Hermione casts a binding spell on Neville Longbottom what prevents him from moving. No ropes are used however but the spell seems to serve the same purpose.

Topping from Below is a thriller/crime story with a woman trying to find whoever caused her sister's death. Serious, sad, dramatic, plot-heavy, with a lot of BDSM (but not at the beginning of the book).
