@chadmc90 is there any possibility of letting a post's datestamp and timestamp be visible next to it in the thread besides just "2 months ago" but actually say "May 9, 2023 1:17PM"?
I honestly prefer the relative timesteps personally, but if there is substantial support for absolute time stamps, I will consider removing the mod that changes this.

I would prefer the absolute date.
I have had a couple of members ask about it but referred them to chadmc90 who had his reasons for adopting the alternate notation.
Obviously, I have not been in receipt of expressions of support for the existing system but why should I if people are happy with it?

I always sign into here via "
https://www.tugstories.com"
But when I click on the banner or on "main page", I get dumped into "
https://tugstories.com"
The login does not carry over from one to the other.
Is there anyway to make this be consistent?

@chadmc90 @Johnsnow
Does this make sense to you?

Presumably you're aware that the SSL certificate expired, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

I just renewed the SSL certificate. It should be valid soon. It may take some time to go into effect.

If I go through Google, it brings me to the http (unsecure, no s not a typo) instead of the https (secure, correct with an s at the end) login page so I just click on the ''Main Page" link near the top and it brings me back to the https login page. If I've logged in through the https login, it keeps me logged in if I had the "Remember me" checked, but only if I surf via the https link, and not the http link Google puts up. Google used to bring up the https login, and for searches still goes to the https pages, but for some reason in the last few days, it defaults to the unsecure http link for the main page.
Avoid going through Google and just bookmark the
https://tugstories.com link and go through that link only. If the link redirects to plain http, clear your cache and wait till https logins resume (otherwise, if you don't mind having your login credentials being seen by anyone in plain text, go ahead, at your own risk, logging in through the unsecure
http://tugstories.com page). That tiny s at the end of the http's' matters a great deal!
Just my two cent!

Question on this, what about on my phone? When I'm doing browsing on there?

Hi @Stormee. It depends on your browser app, but there must be a way for you to access the browser's settings, and clear its cache, then bookmark the url with the https login link. Same wiht whatevr password manager you use, you should be able to edit the url for which your login credentials apply. Hope this helps.

Site owner Chad has explained the issue here:

Hopefully, the bot attacks will now stop.

Re: Budget concerns
It would only save a small percentage of the budget, but can you use LetsEncrypt for the SSL Certificates? They provide free TLS (replacement technology for SSL) certificates. If the board software doesn't support TLS, we'll, that would be a bit surprising and concerning.

I'm tagging
@chadmc90 so he can see your post
@tufriend. FYI, tugstories.com does use TLS 1.3 certificate verified by GoDaddy.com. You would need to tag the administrators or PM them directly if you want to ensure they see your comments

There's no need to keep reposting this. We know the https version of the site (and all links) are down. As clearly explained by the forum Admin on the other thread you also posted this on, the forum is in the process of being moved. The main page and all other forum links are inaccessible because they're all https.

Bear with ups, please, @DGirl,
@chadmc90 is working hard to try to migrate the forum to another host,
@bondagefreak, being more tech savvy than I, has been fielding the same questions over and over again
Me, @Xtc, I'm just the friendly (I hope) customer support guy. Shame I' so useless on the tech front.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. These life events can be very upsetting and disturbing.
For the last month or so I have encountered the 406 error without any means to determine if it is a problem with my computer, my service provider, or the web site. I feared it was some attempt to wiggle into my computer.
Is there some way to reach another site that would advise on the status of the main site? or a broadcast email to those that had been active over the last year or so?
I'm very happy to see the site back. Thanks for all your work.
