First was just nylon rope. And from there....

Besides duct tape, I think the first bondage Item was either a ballgag or fabric handcuffs.

Duct Tape

A black rubber ballgag from a local store. Was really odd going into a place like that back then.

When I first got my own place, my first order was for several pairs of S&W handcuffs and ankle cuffs. That was about 20 years ago, and I still have (and use!) all of them. I think my second order was for a a couple hundred dollars worth of gear (gags, leather cuffs, hood) from sub-shop.com. I ordered some really inexpensive stuff, so it didn’t take long for everything to wear out. However, that was the start of my collection, and I was able to figure out what I really liked and what I didn’t care for.

After that, I think my next couple purchases were from Mr. S Leather…and that was a bit more expensive. I still have my first couple pairs of locking leather cuffs from them…and while they’re definitely worn (err…lovingly broken in), they still do the job quite well!

Pretty sure my first purchased item was a pack of colored bandanas.

Second item was probably a roll of duct tape (after having “borrowed” some pieces from the random roll at home; I knew I’d probably want my own supply).

Got a pair of fake handcuffs, curiously, from a Dave & Busters prize shop when I was young.

A bag of black plastic zipties from Bunnings. Because learning how to tie knots takes time and practice.

Aside from nylon ropes of varying colours, the first pure 'this is obviously bondage' item i purchased was a red ball gag. Always loved how they looked when a woman was wearing them in the videos online. Alas my wife isn't a fan, but she uses it on myself regularly. Recently I found a panel gag that had a half-ball gag on it instead of a penis - so that was purchased.

I bought some sticky tape when I was young, it would keep my parents from being suspicious

I just made my first true bondage gear purchase this week. A set of learher bondage belts and a harness ball gag

I usually just tape myself up but I got a rope today!

A ball gag. Bought it right after I turned 18 and could legally go into a sex shop (internet shopping wasn't a thing then). Was super embarrassed!

A spandex sack that I got through an ad in a Harmony magazine. I remember that bondage model Laural Blake modeled in the ad.

A leather hood, leather cuffs ankle and wrist, a spiked chastity cage for my SLAVE BOI.

I've been into bondage for years but its only this year that I finally ended up buying a ballgag and bondage tape...well worthwhile purchases!

Congrats on your first purchases, @HandgaggedShut! What do you plan on buying next? It’s an incredibly fun hobby (and passion!), but can get expensive…but soooo worth it.

Thanks! tbh i haven't given it much thought and a lot of the more what I class as 'heavy' bondage items like cuffs etc don't interest me. Chances are I'll run out of bondage tape and have to buy more haha.

If i ever found anyone to tie me irl i suppose i could be convinced to buy a blindfold but for the time being when i'm just receiving instructions online I kinda have to see the messages!

It was a three pack of rope on Amazon to tie up my ex and a shibari book to accompany it.

Turned into a few fun nights but it was hard to find a time to do the full production and the longer we were together the less it happened. Usually I just used our clothes to tie her wrists and to gag/blindfold her.

Mine was handcuffs, I wanted to experience proper bondage for the first time, so being locked away was something i craved. I learnt later I preferred the dominant side, but it was a fun first experience x
