On the upper-right corner of the forum, your username appears. Clicking on the little arrow next to it grants you access to your User Control Panel. Everything relating to your profile and avatar is controlled via there.

As for story photos, as is the case on virtually all forums, you need to host your photos somewhere (eg: Flickr, Deviant Art, etc). Once they are hosted online, it's merely a question of using the "Insert Image" button and copy/pasting their URL links. Take some time to experiment.
