Something that did/does the trick for me: A simple wool hat with a brim that can be pulled down to cover the entire face. Preferably made of thick wool.

TUGs always seem to be popular in the armies. There used to be whole albums of pictures of soldiers tied up for fun in Webshots (those old enough will remember!). I guess that’s what happens when young adults hang out together
